Lee Herring Collection
Lee Herring (born 1940) is a celebrated Western painter who grew up in rural Rains County, Texas. Before committing full-time to his art in 1975, he played football at East Texas A&M University(then East Texas State), where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Art. Lee spent his early career working as a technical illustrator and teaching art before diving headfirst into painting the American West. Today, he is widely known for his highly researched, atmospheric scenes that capture the true grit of Texas history and frontier life. His dedication even earned him the title of Texas State Two-Dimensional Artist for 2007, and you can find his work in major collections like the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum.
